The Kindest Man You will Ever Meet
When Dean Vegas won a role in his school play, little did he know he would become Worlds No 1 Elvis Tribute Artist. After a rocky beginning playing to audiences of only 36 people to now playing to sell out audiences and his name is adored all over the world, performing in such places as Bali, Sweden, USA, Canada, United Kingdom just to name a few. His popularity has grown at an enormous rate and he is loved by both young and old. But what we see on the stage is not all there is to Dean Vegas, beyond the costume, lights and American accent is the “kindest man you will ever meet”.
In his home city of the Gold Coast, on Queensland’s South East coast, Dean Vegas is not only well known for this spectacular “Elvis” shows, but for his own very special and caring personality.
In 2004 Dean wanted to contribute to making his city a better place to live by running for mayor in the local elections. The campaign was a strong and honest one and had overwhelming support from a diverse section of the community. Unfortunately Dean only managed 12.5% of the vote but Dean’s passion, warmth and the ability to listen to the people strengthened not only his fans but introduced many people to a talented artist who understands the difficulties facing communities.
Many people are not aware of Dean’s compassion and commitment to the welfare sector of the Gold Coast. Not only has he shown his immense generosity by giving his support to over 150 charities and non profit organizations, but has made personal donations to those who have had special needs including children that have been terminally ill and families who have been in crisis and needed help.
Earlier this year Dean decided that he would again run for Mayor in the March 2008 Gold Coast Council election. Despite many people still believing Dean running for mayor is a gimmick or not serious, a few months ago Dean won a poll as the Peoples Choice for Mayor so if that is any indication, he has a real and positive chance. To do this Dean needs the people to get behind him and support him both financially and practically . I encourage people to look beyond the Elvis suit, to an extraordinary man that truly stands for honesty and integrity. For this reason, and for the love of people in his own city is what makes him the ideal choice for Mayor of the Gold Coast. You can show your support for Dean by volunteering your time to help with the campaign or donating. For more details visit this site www.myspace.com/deanformayor
